A monorail crane is a type of crane that acts as a replacement for an overhead crane. These cranes are mostly used to transport materials or products in a straight or arched path. Such workshops can be factories or warehouses. The design of a monorail crane is simple and it can be adapted to the structure of the shed without any major changes.
These cranes can be loaded through monorail beams installed under the roof of the workshops. Depending on the height of the shed and the ability to lift, the cart can move under the load beam. The monorail crane is connected as a tow wire or trolley.
Monorail cranes are used in places that need to be loaded only in length and do not need to transfer load in width. The four-movement hoist (longitudinal and hook) is located under the beam attached to the roof and moves the load along the displacement. The capacity of these cranes is limited (up to 10 tons) and depends on the strength of the beam and roof. Monorail cranes are used manually and electrically. These types of cranes are generally used in light industry, small warehouses and in the automotive industry in general.
Coordination between all components of the crane is done by the electrical panel and the designed elements and its control systems. The power supply of the monorail overhead crane is supplied by cable, rail, special pulley or rod box (copper busbar).
